ABSTRACT: Gyalecta canariensis, a corticolous lichen species related to G. ulmi and resembling the corticolous, lignicolous and saxicolous G. truncigena, is described from the Canary Island, La Palma. This is the first report of a species with more than 8 spores per ascus for the genus.
