ABSTRACT: Several species of lichenized and non-lichenized pyrenocarpous ascomycetes are reported from the Sundarbans Biosphere Reserve in India. The species Astrosphaeriella sundarbanensis Jagadeesh & Aptroot is new to science. It has the largest ascospores in the genus. Five species are new records for India, viz. Anisomeridium leptospermum, Anthostomella zongluensis, Julella geminella, Polymeridium proponens and Pseudopyrenula subnudata.
