ABSTRACT: Two species of the genus Lactarius described from Yunnan, China, L. chichuensis and L. hirtipes, are compared in this study based on the critical examination of the holotypes and additional material. They are very similar in the field but can be distinguished from each other by the spores and the stipe cortex and pileus trama. The detailed descriptions and illustrations of the two species are provided. Both taxa belong to subgen. Russularia sect. Theiogali.
