Scutari, Nora C., B. Doris Diez & H. Thorsten Lumbsch. New records of soil-associated lichens from north-eastern Patagonia (Chubut, Argentina). Mycotaxon 83: 369-383. 2002.

ABSTRACT: The present study describes preliminary floristic results of a project focusing on the use of lichens as bioindicators of rangeland conservation in the surroundings of Puerto Madryn (Chubut, Argentina). Two species are recorded for South America for the first time: Fulgensia subbracteata and Rinodina mucronatula. Three additional species are new records for Argentina: Aspicilia contorta, Catapyrenium squamulosum and Lecanora dispersa. The presence of Endocarpon pusillum is confirmed. The known distribution areas of two species, Psora decipiens and Rinodina bischoffii, are extended to parallel 42°S. Descriptions, comments and illustrations are provided.
