| Baker, William A., E. Christopher Partridge & Gareth Morgan-Jones. Notes on Hyphomycetes. LXXXI. Acrodictyella obovata, a new lignicolous, dematiaceous genus and species collected in Alabama. Mycotaxon 78: 29-35. 2001. ABSTRACT: A dematiaceous anamorph occurring on decaying, decorticated wood in Alabama is described as a novel, monotypic genus, Acrodictyella, with a new taxon, A. obovata, as its type species. It is compared with Acrodictys and Ityorhoptrum, two genera whose conidium ontogeny is broadly similar, in terms of cell wall relationships, and with which it shares certain morphological likenesses. It differs from these and other anamorph form-genera in subtle peculiarities of conidium detachment, particularly timing, and morphology. KEYWORDS: Acrodictys, Ityorhoptrum, generic concepts.
