ABSTRACT: After examining 2495 herbarium samples, 22 species are accepted in Europe. Rhizopogon luteolus (for which a neotype is designated), R. marchii, R. occidentalis, and R. roseolus are widely diustributed in Europe. In the Iberian Peninsula, R. luteolus weas collected along the coast. The only species with an Atlantic distribution is R. ochraceorubens.
