ABSTRACT: Based on a study of the isolate and the type specimen of Phytophthora fragariae var. oryzo-bladis causing leaf blight of rice seedlings in China it is concluded that the fungal pathogen is distinct enough from P. fragariae to warrant a new species epithet and should be re-named P. oryzo-bladis.
