ABSTRACT: Irpex is one of the most common polypore genera and characterized by its poroid to hydnaceous hymenophores, encrusted cystidia, and simple-septate hyphae. An Irpex specimen with conspicuous morphological differences from I. lacteus and I. hydnoides was collected in Korea and this taxon is proposed as a new species, Irpex hacksungii.
