ABSTRACT: A new combination, Paradoxa gigantospora, is proposed for the truffle Tuber gigantosporum that was first described in 1991 based on a specimen collected from southwestern China. Paradoxa gigantospora is distinct in that it invariably has only one spore per ascus, a defining character for the genus Paradoxa. This represents the second species for the genus Paradoxa and the first time this genus has been recorded in China.
