Cortez, Vagner G. Type studies on South American Strophariaceae. 1. Pholiota varzeae from the Brazilian Amazon. Mycotaxon 103: 137–140. 2008. ABSTRACT: The study of the holotype of Pholiota varzeae revealed the presence of numerous acanthocytes in its rhizomorphs, generally accepted as an exclusive generic character of the genus Stropharia. The proposed new combination, S. varzeae, is based in morphological and anatomical characters. The taxonomic discussion is accompanied by detailed macroscopic and microscopic descriptions and illustrations. KEYWORDS: Agaricales, Pholiota section Albivelatae, Amazon mycobiota, várzea vegetation, nomenclature |
