Blanco, María Natividad, G. Moreno & J. Checa. Two rare corticioid species with globose spores. Mycotaxon 100: 269–277. 2007. ABSTRACT: Two rare corticioid species with resupinate and arachnoid basidiocarps are compared. These species are similar morphologically but differ in nutritional behaviour: Botryobasidium globosisporum is a saprotroph while Thanatephorus ochraceus is an endomycorrhizal fungus. Although they differ phylogenetically, they share some microscopic characteristics that occasionally make their determination difficult. Similarities and differences between the two species are discussed and photographs comparing morphological and anatomical characters are provided. KEYWORDS: Cejpomyces, Basidiomycota, taxonomy |
