A response to authors who asked to purchase offprints

As we announced in 1998, Mycotaxon is no longer able to offer authors the free 100 offprints we provided since 1992. Our journal was one of the last mycological journals to provide such free offprints.

We will continue automatically to provide corresponding authors with one copy of their paper suitable for use in xerographic reproduction for producing their own reprints for distribution. For preparation of higher quality reprints than xerography allows, authors must arrange for a local printer to print these from (i) the returned manuscript, or (ii) from the printed copy we provide. Offset negatives are no longer available.

Our printer has agreed to provide offprints if they are ordered in a timely manner. Authors must indicate that they wish to purchase offprints, available in quantities of 25, 50, 100, or 200, on the Return and Order Form they receive from the Editor-in-Chief when their paper is accepted. That form must be mailed to Mycotaxon, Ltd., in the U.S.A. and not to the Editor-in-Chief in Slovakia. Late return of the form will make offprints either unavailable or only available at a much higher cost.

A major increase (January 2001) in the costs of both domestic and foreign mailing as well as continued cost increases for paper have forced us to increase the prices for offprints. The following price list applies to orders for offprints from volumes 78 (Apr-Jun 2001) and following, and prices include surface mail to US or foreign addresses; if air mail shipment is desired, authors may address the Business Manager to obtain an air shipment price for a specific number of offprints:
